Attention Motor Carriers
The U.S. DOT Number Personal Identification Number (PIN) (NOT a Docket Number PIN)
issued by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is NOT required
for registering a motor carrier account. However, the PIN is used to validate the
account and may be entered at any time. For further details, visit

For assistance with PIN issues, call FMCSA Technical Support at (800) 832-5660 during
normal business hours (select option 1, then option 2).
By Phone
To follow up with a current request or response
Call the agency responsible for the request or add a response within the system.
For the agency’s phone number, click on the Details button for the request and then
move your mouse pointer over the phone icon located next to the “assigned
to agency” label. If a response was added to the request, then a phone number
may be listed with the response at the bottom of the page.
For your local FMCSA Division Office
Visit the Field Office Phone List, scroll down the page, and then
select your State of domicile to find your State's phone number.
For assistance with your motor carrier PIN
Call the FMCSA Technical Support hotline during normal business hours (select option
